Fast facts: The solubility of your active ingredients
...is a deciding factor for choosing test methods !

We systematically ask you for the solubility of your ingredients and active substances before suggesting an in-vitro model.

WHY ?

The solubility of the test item will influence the chosen method. The feasibility of certain tests, like those based on cellular models, is validated—or not—depending on the solubility of your active substances. The test item (active substance/ingredient) is incubated in the culture medium, in direct contact with cells. Therefore, it must be solubilized beforehand in this aqueous environment.

If your ingredient is liposoluble, and cannot be solubilized in classic solvents such as DMSO or certain mixtures, the model will have to be adapted:

– by assessing the efficacy of your active ingredient on reconstructed tissues, via topical application, or
– by setting up cell culture inserts
